Anyway, yeah, I have a tough time with the Rayne 'ship too. He barely tolerates her, and she doesn't like him much either. I've read a few where the author sells the 'ship pretty well, but most of the time it squicks the hell out of me.
This ... thing I've written isn't really Rayne as such, it's more of a River + Jayne, kind of along the same lines as the Kaylee + Jayne fic I wrote a couple of weeks ago. Of course, I absolutely suck at writing romance anyway, which is why most of my stuff is generally pre-ship or gen.
