So, I've been thinking about...

giving not!Harry glasses. This would emphasize the "harmless geek" type I'm going for here...right before he blows three people away in as many seconds.

And then I thought that this was problematic for several reasons. Not the least of which is getting them to him after he's been kidnapped and had the crap beaten out of him. I've figured out how to do that, however.

I assumed that, if he needs vision correction (and most of us do), he was wearing contacts when they snatched him. Contacts in his situation are problematic on several levels. For one, sleeping (or being unconscious, or having surgery) while wearing contacts = bad, unless they're the ones you can sleep in. However, not!Harry has also lost a lot of blood, and I would think that this would affect the amount of moisture in his eyes, thus also making wearing contacts not so good.

So, if he's wearing contacts when he's found, they'll need to be removed. And if he's wearing the glasses when he kills those guys and then falls down, what happens to them? Do they get broken? Lost? Do they stay on and bruise his face or gash his nose?

And now I understand why this issue doesn't get dealt with in fiction. Because you have to take a handicap like this into consideration in every single scene where there's any semblance of action. And if I do this, I'm going to have to go back to every single scene he's in and mess with it.

On the other hand...I never see action heroes with glasses, with very few exceptions. Oh, sunglasses, sure, because there's a whole "cool" factor there, but those can be discarded at need. So now it's an interesting puzzle to me and I'm thinking about doing it just because no one else does...

Also, GUH. I mean, really. Not to mention this.
