House musings...

So, apparently they're going to make an attempt to put House and Cameron together. This bugs me on a bunch of levels, and I finally sussed out why.
1. He's too old for her. Not chronologically, but mentally. She's a cub, he's a full-grown wolf. They're in completely different life stages. While this could make for some interesting drama and conflict for a televison show, it doesn't work for me, reality-wise.
2. Mentor/student = wrong, to me. I just don't like it when people go there. Which brings us to...
3. There's an inherent power imbalance here. He's her boss. Whether she initiates the relationship or not, this will only end in tears for everyone involved.
4. This can't be good for the Duckling Team, either. Resentment, accusations of favoritism...and there's bound to be a (possibly not-so-subtle) power shift there as well. If Cameron's boffing the boss man, the others will be naturally diminished in his estimation. Unless, of course, he decides to overcompensate by being tougher on her than he is on the rest of them--which would be equally bad.
If he's going to get into a relationship at work, he should do so with someone closer to him in seniority and snark. (I just heard my entire flist squeal "WILSON!") Cuddy would be ideal. She can't fire him (he has tenure). She can make his life hard...but he makes her life hard too. There's a give and take there not possible with Cameron.
Ugh. I wish they'd just keep everyone on this show ship-free. Why do they have to muck up a good thing with damb romance?
Yeah, my gen-writer is showing here...
